New address: who do I need to inform?

26.02.2025

To make sure you continue receiving post after your move and that friends and family can visit you, it’s important to share your new address with them. However, there are also many other institutions that will need your updated contact information.

Notify your move to:

  • Your family and friends
  • Your employer
  • Your neighbors

Online or in-person appearance

  • Municipal Registration: Update your address at the local authorities.
  • Postal Forwarding Request: This can be very useful in case your old address is still registered somewhere.

Through the desired communication method

  • Bank (including credit card providers if necessary)
  • Insurances: health insurance, home insurance, liability insurance, car insurance, life insurance, legal protection insurance, etc.
  • Road traffic office: vehicle and driver's license updates
  • Schools, kindergarten, daycares, babysitters
  • Doctor, dentist, pediatrician, and veterinarian
  • Internet, TV, and telephone providers (landline and mobile)
  • Clubs and associations
  • Newspaper and magazine subscriptions
  • For conscripts: section chief or regional military command of the canton
  • Lawyers and tax consulting firms
  • AHV social security office for the self-employed and retirees
  • Municipal utilities: gas, water, electricity, if not handled by the property management

Note: For Serafe (Swiss radio and TV fee), you don't need to notify them – you'll automatically receive a bill.

📱 Apps

Don’t forget to quickly go through all your apps and update your new address where necessary: especially for food delivery services or online shopping, having an up-to-date address is crucial.
